Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
The Dimensions Math series is designed to help students learn math by using concrete images, and pictures, then moving to the abstract. Students will learn to think mathematically and rely on learning how to 'do maths', not just memorize math facts.

If you are unsure of the level of your learner, please take the Diagnostic Assessment class or review the placement tests on the Singapore Math website.

I will use a variety of activities to engage the learner including Google slide presentations, the use of the whiteboard, videos, stories, and the use of manipulatives (like counters). Students are required to have their own textbook and workbook which are listed in the Supplies section below and available from Singapore Math. I have also listed some possibilities for optional manipulatives. Additional flashcards, activities, and ideas for games at home will be offered. Singapore Math also provides a letter for parents describing each chapter. This will be sent each week based on the schedule.

Class Expectations:
Each class will cover the lesson or lessons within the textbook (as listed below), a review of homework, the opportunity for questions, and in-class practice. Students should bring their textbooks and pencil to each class. We will be taking notes in class and they may use their workbooks for practice outside of class. Students should also have extra scratch paper.

Class participation is required. Learners can use the chat or a whiteboard to show their answers or answer verbally. It is through their participation that I can assess if the topic is clear. Learners will be expected to complete the workbook activities that go along with the lesson of the day. It is encouraged to do the homework immediately following the lesson. Homework may be submitted through the class or through private chat. If a learner is having an issue with a concept, it is important to not wait for additional help.

After each class, I will post what we completed during class time and the homework for the day.

Hello! I'm a friendly and experienced teacher who believes that everyone can learn. My passion lies in helping students discover their spark. I strive to create a challenging yet enjoyable learning environment in my classes. I offer live online classes, asynchronous self-paced courses, and individualized 1:1 tutoring.

My specialties include:

* Literacy and Reading
* Foundational Math Skills
* Cross-curriculum programming including science and social studies
* Expertise serving learners with disabilities, including autism, ADHD, learning or developmental disabilities, or physical disabilities, and reluctant learners, helping them gain confidence and develop a love for learning.

Adapted Curriculum:

I have the expertise to adapt and enhance curricula to cater to diverse learning needs in subjects including math, social studies, science, and life skills.

Understanding and Support:

As a mother of Twice-Exceptional students (ADHD, OCD, Autism, SPD, Dysgraphia), I understand the delicate balance of meeting individual needs while providing engaging content. My own experience with ADHD allows me to empathize with students who struggle with executive function issues and fluctuating energy levels.

Inclusive Environment:

I am committed to fostering an anti-racist and LGBTQIA+ inclusive environment. I actively seek decolonized resources and advocate for transgender issues.

Continuous Learning:

With two Master's Degrees (Social Work and Education) and ongoing professional development, I ensure my teaching methods are up-to-date and effective. I continuously engage in professional development through reputable platforms such as SimpleK12, LDA, PACER Center, and the Google Education Center. I am also proud to be a certified BrainPop Educator, NearPod Educator, and CK12 Educator.

Classroom Expectations:

In my classroom, kindness and readiness are the foundation. I welcome learners of all abilities and prioritize understanding and support for each student's unique communication and behavioral needs. I primarily base my classes on developmental or academic level rather than a specific age or grade. If you believe your older learner would benefit from a listed class, please enroll, and I will reach out to you for further information.

I strongly encourage learners of all abilities to participate to the fullest extent possible. I firmly believe that behavior is a form of communication, and I am dedicated to understanding what each student is trying to express.

Look forward to meeting you!
