Introduction to percents, percents to decimals
Students will be introduced to percents, write percents, and convert percents to decimals and decimals to percents.
Lesson 2
Percents to fractions
Students will convert percents to fractions in the simplest form and convert fractions to percents.
 Week 2
Lesson 3
Percentage of a quantity
Students will determine percentage of a quantity.
Lesson 4
Problem solving with taxes. tips, and discounts
Students will solve word problems with taxes, tips, and discounts.
 Week 3
Lesson 5
More problem solving with percents
Students will solve word problems with percent that are not taxes, tips, or discounts.
Lesson 6
Inverse percent
Students will solve problems with inverse percent.
  • Students will identify and write percents.
  • Students will convert fto percents or percents to decimals.
  • Students will convert fractions to percents or percents to fractions.
  • Students will solve word problems involving taxes, tips, and discounts.
  • Students will solve other percent word problems.
  • Students will solve word problems involving inverse percentage.
I have a master’s degree in Learning and Instruction as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.  I taught general education and special education classes for seven years before becoming a homeschooling mom. I have taught all grade levels 1-6 mathematics, for both general education students and special needs students.  I am a member of the Council for Exceptional Children, as well as have teacher certification for both general education and special education in the state of California.

This class uses direct, explicit instructions to teach your child step by step. There is an opportunity during the lesson to pause the video and try on your own, as well as self-correcting pages. Students can follow along at their own pace.
