💥 Students will learn how to graph linear equations. We will start with an equation, or two points. Then we create a table of values and graph the line. 💥 We will also have fun with the Desmos graphing calculator. This class is intended for students who have completed grade 7 level math and are currently working on grade 8 level math. Structure of Classes: - practice graphing lines with teacher's guidance and direction - work individually on graphing lines - take up questions with class Class Interaction: - Teacher and students share an interactive white board - Guided notes may be provided for class, just prior to the session - Students are encouraged to participate and write on the interactive whiteboard (this varies according to class size) Prerequisite: Designed for students who are taking grade 8 math and/or getting ready to take Algebra 1. Quality Math Instruction: - content-rich tasks - practice and feedback - productive struggle - procedural fluency - conceptual understanding - communicating math concepts Video/Zoom: Attendance is taken at the beginning of each class, and students are required to turn on their video feed for this. When students have their videos on and actively participate, it changes from a teacher-led class to a student-led class. I also have ONGOING, WEEKLY pre-algebra classes: 💥 Grade 6 Class: https://outschool.com/classes/lets-practice-grade-6-math-together-1week-common-core-ongoing-hbalSxUF?usid=yECnbrqO&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link' 💥 Grade 8 Class: https://outschool.com/classes/lets-practice-grade-8-math-together-1week-common-core-ongoing-Dieu8xnV?usid=yECnbrqO&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link
Learning Goals
Students will gain confidence and learn how to graph a straight line from a linear equation.

Parental Guidance
We will be using Bitpaper as our whiteboard. No need to sign in, as I will give the link in the chat window during class. We will also use the Desmos Graphing Calculator. Again, no need to sign in, as I will provide the link. All other materials are from the Google suite.
Supply List
We will use Bitpaper as our interactive whiteboard. Please bring graph paper, pencils, erasers.

Hi, I'm Cheryl
You can get that A! I'll help with your math homework, improve your math skills, get you prepared for a state or national test.
OR, if you JUST DON'T GET IT, I'm here.
I have helped a lot of kids gain confidence in math. They say that I'm fun, patient and I understand how they need to be taught.
My vision is that every child gets the support they need to succeed in math. Succeeding in math can open a lot of doors. That's why I say, Math Is Your Path!
...............................................................................
Right now I offer private tutoring (Grades 6 to Algebra 1) In Canada, that's grades 6 to 11 .
I also have a special class for Middle School Students: Become a Multiplication Master. As a former middle school and high school math teacher, I know that it is IMPORTANT to know your multiplication tables.
..........................................................................
I requalified as a Senior Math Teacher at the University of Toronto in 2015. So, I am current regarding math teaching techniques and issues.
.........................................................................................
I am an experienced classroom math teacher and hold a professional teaching certificate (University of Toronto) in the province of Ontario, Canada.
...................................................................................................................................................
I also have a Masters in Business Administration (MBA 2009, University of Calgary). I have worked for large corporations (pharmaceutical and telecommunications), plus I started my own successful business working with engineers, technicians, scientists. I have a lot of first-hand experience how math is used in the "real" world.
.......................................................................................
When I'm not teaching online, I am busy gardening (my passion), playing chef in the kitchen, hiking in the beautiful Rocky Mountains, cycling, or just hanging out with friends. Cosimo, my cat, likes to check zoom, so don't be surprised if he tries to show off in the middle of a lesson!
