Class Experience

US Grade 4
In this class, students will have the opportunity to play math games that will serve to strengthen their foundational fourth grade math skills while having fun in a small group. We will practice our times tables using number puzzles, mental math and story problems and will play a variety of games, ranging from math dice games to multiplication and division bingo, sudokus and the game 24. Students should already be familiar and comfortable with long addition and subtraction and simple multiplication and division with whole numbers.

Each session will be catered to the students who are present. The following is an example of the activities we will work with in each ongoing class, which students can join or leave at any time:
First meeting: Dice rolling game, math bingo, rhythmic patterns
Second meeting: Sudoku, the game 24
Third meeting: Dice rolling game, math bingo, the game 24
etc..
Learning Goals
Students will have the opportunity to solidify their multiplication tables and practice competence and agility with mental math games and activities. Multiplication and division, place value and estimation, and simple fractions will all be topics covered in this ongoing small group class.
