Description
Class Experience
For each class, we will solve decoder puzzles while practicing math facts. Puzzles will be presented using power point, and students will have the opportunity to work out small bits of the puzzles at a time until they have solved all pieces. A timer will be used to ensure we have time to complete the entire puzzle during our time together, and to give students the opportunity to think and work out answers for the problems. You are welcome to join for any day or stay with us throughout the...
The objective for this class is to help students be more comfortable with their algebra skills. Students will review ideas such as: Combining Like Terms Operations with Negatives Solving Multi-Step Equations Order of Operations
I've been a secondary educator for 25 years. I LOVE using games and puzzles to help students build their math foundation. This 30-minute boost for math will be a quick, fun way to develop math fluency and walk away with a good joke to share with others!
No homework will be assigned. If we are not able to complete a puzzle with the time frame, problems will be provided for students in the classroom as a PDF to finish on their own. An answer key will be provided for them to check their work.
Scrap paper and pencil should be used while solving problems.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will provide feedback to students as we are working. If they are able to find the answers in the decoder as we are working, they will know that they are doing the problems correctly, and I will assist as needed. By the end of class, students should have a complete answer to the decoder (answer to the joke).
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
