Class Experience

The objective for this class is for students to become more comfortable with whole number operations. Students will review ideas such as:

Making 10-pairs for easy addition
Regrouping for subtraction
Multiplying and Dividing Whole Numbers
Order of Operations (Parentheses, Multiplication, Division, Addition and Subtraction)
I've been a secondary educator for 25 years. I LOVE using games and puzzles to help students build their math foundation. This 25-minute boost for math will be a quick, fun way to develop math fluency and walk away with a good joke to share with others!
No homework will be assigned. If we are not able to complete a puzzle with the time frame, problems will be provided for students in the classroom as a PDF to finish on their own. An answer key will be provided for them to check their work.
Students should have paper and pencil to work out the problems.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will provide feedback to students as we are working. If they are able to find the answers in the decoder as we are working, they will know that they are doing the problems correctly, and I will assist as needed. By the end of class, students should have a complete answer to the decoder (answer to the joke).
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
