In this Among Us themed unit, we will focus on basic addition skills with single digit addition over the course of six classes. Find the impostor among the crew members and see who will be sent out into space!

Students will be able to add two numbers with sums up to 20 with fluency, using various strategies / techniques. 

This aligns with Common Core standards: 
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.K.OA.A.5 - Fluently add and subtract within 5.
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.1.OA.C.6 - Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 10.
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.OA.B.2 - Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies.
I am a certified special education teacher for students in grades K-12, with more than 20 years experience at the elementary and middle school level. I also have a 13yo son with Autism who teaches me the best ways to be a teacher daily. 
Homework Offered
At the parent/caregiver request, worksheet homework can be assigned to reinforce the skills used during the lesson. These will be themed in accordance with the lesson. This is not a requirement for the course.

Assessments Offered
At the parent/caregiver request, an assessment can be completed one on one following the final session. This is not a requirement for the course. Please reach out to schedule a post-course assessment block.
Grades Offered
I am a certified special education teacher, and teach math on a daily basis to a crew of diverse and neurospicy learners. Students under the ASD umbrella, as well as student with attention / ADHD needs are encouraged.
Students should have the ability to count to 20 with fluency, and have numeral-quantity association (such as, they know the number four is represented by "4" and that it connects with the quantity of four). 
The Among Us games does have some level of mature themes. During this course, the images sourced from the game will be non-violent in nature. The game itself is labelled as for ages 10+, but the content of the lessons will be appropriate for all ages. 
Among Us is a 2018 online multiplayer social deduction game developed and published by American game studio Innersloth.

Some activities in the lessons are derived from Teachers Pay Teachers, modified to fit the target students.
