Math Homework Help and Tutoring (1:1 Time with a Certified Teacher)

Math can be a difficult subject for students to keep up in, and regular homework can be a burden on families. In these sessions, I will work on whatever your student needs tutoring in or help them complete that day's homework assignment.

Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 6
For this 25-minute session, we will work on whatever math-related topic your student is needing assistance with. This 1:1 time can be used for math remediation, extension, or homework assistance. Please let me know in advance before our first session what topic(s) you would like me to cover as the this is a student/parent directed class. I am currently a 4th grade teacher at a brick-and-mortar school in North Carolina, and I have over 10 years of experience teaching various upper elementary subjects and grades. I have also been tutoring online for over 5 years. My teaching and tutoring style is supportive and encouraging. When possible, I utilize a multi-sensory approach to math so students deeply understand the content and not just come to an answer without understanding the "why". When possible, I use drawings, online manipulatives, and word problems to help students gain a deeper understanding of the content.

Cancellation policy: Consistency is important in the learning process; however I understand that sometimes life happens. Because of that, families have one free cancellation per quarter (Sept.-Nov., Dec. – Feb., March – May, June – Aug.) provided that notice is provided in advance (preferably more than 24 hours). We will also take the week of Thanksgiving and Christmas off as well as the Fourth of July. After the first cancellation of the quarter, families will need to either keep their class time or use Outschool’s “Pause Enrollment” option which may jeopardize their enrollment by allowing someone else to take that spot while the enrollment is paused.

Learning Goals

Students will learn confidence in their math skills through a supportive environment. This tutoring session is parent/student directed so student outcomes will be up to the student/parent.

Hello, I’m Teacher Trevor and I’m super excited to meet your child on Outschool. I have taught in an upper elementary setting for over eleven years now and tutored online for over six. In addition to my degree in elementary education, I have endorsements in teaching reading and teaching English as a second language. As a dad of three boys myself, I understand the unique abilities and learning styles that students bring to the classroom and strive to meet the individual needs of my students. I believe in setting high expectations for student learning, but using multi-sensory and real-world application to help all students achieve understanding. I enjoy connecting with students through humor and common interests. Some of my hobbies include reading a good book, violin, and anything outdoor related. I am super excited to get to teach your child on Outschool.
