US Grade 8 - 11
Students need to understand how to add and subtract negative numbers all the way through high school. Negative numbers may continue to be difficult for students all the way into college math classes! I know because I have worked with college math students who miss problems, not because they can't learn the higher level processes, but because they still don't quite get how to work with negative numbers that they started learning about all the way back in 6th grade! Sometimes it is the notation that books or curriculum use that is confusing - one book will use notation that another book does not. Same goes for software. They are not all the same. I'll walk them through the exact how-to process, step-by-step, using my "hacks" . . . that work every single time. I will provide worksheets that we will use during class. Students will be able to use the answer key to finish the worksheets and practice using the "hacks" after class. You're going to LOVE it. Prerequisite knowledge: Learners should be familiar with the concept of positive and negative numbers.
