Homework
1 hour per week. Worksheets for practice will be sent by the teacher at the end of every class . If the learner is absent then there is no worksheet given.
Assessment
An assessment worksheet is done in last 2 weeks along with tips on how to find answers easily and prepare for tests . These are not mandatory and depends on the learner's speed over the course. A learner may choose to do them as a home assignment too.

Class Experience

US Grade 4
Beginner - Intermediate Level
This is a fun Math class for a learner in 4th grade . The teacher makes the session fun by lot of interactions and games in the class. After a topic is discussed in class learners knowledge is reinforced by practicing on worksheets and playing digital games on those topics. 

The class format is as follows: 

5 minutes warm up : Recap of previous class , or level check for a new learner 

10 minutes topic introduction : Teacher will introduce the concept for the day on a digital whiteboard and check for learner's understanding 

5 minutes worksheet : We practice our knowledge on the worksheet 

5 minutes game : We play a fun game to reinforce our learnings 

Semester: Fall 2024

Weeks 1-2: Place Value and Addition

Week 1:

Day 1: Introduction to place value (ones, tens, hundreds) - Understanding the value of digits in a number.
Day 2: Place value practice - Writing numbers in expanded form and identifying the value of each digit.

Week 2:

Day 1: Introduction to addition - Adding 2-digit numbers without regrouping.
Day 2: Addition practice - Word problems involving addition without regrouping.

Weeks 3-4: Subtraction and Multiplication Concepts

Week 3:

Day 1: Introduction to subtraction - Subtracting 2-digit numbers without regrouping.
Day 2: Subtraction practice - Word problems involving subtraction without regrouping.

Week 4:

Day 1: Introduction to multiplication concepts - Understanding multiplication as repeated addition.
Day 2: Multiplication practice - Basic multiplication facts practice (1-5).

Weeks 5-6: Multiplication and Division

Week 5:

Day 1: Introduction to 2-digit by 1-digit multiplication.
Day 2: Multiplication practice - Solving word problems involving 2-digit by 1-digit multiplication.

Week 6:

Day 1: Introduction to division concepts - Understanding division as sharing equally.
Day 2: Division practice - Basic division facts practice (1-5).

Weeks 7-8: Fractions

Week 7:

Day 1: Introduction to fractions - Understanding fractions as parts of a whole.
Day 2: Identifying and representing fractions on a number line.

Week 8:

Day 1: Comparing fractions with like denominators.
Day 2: Adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators.

Weeks 9-10: Geometry

Week 9:

Day 1: Introduction to geometry - Identifying and classifying shapes (2D and 3D).
Day 2: Understanding lines, angles, and symmetry.

Week 10:

Day 1: Perimeter - Finding the perimeter of polygons.
Day 2: Area - Introduction to area, finding the area of rectangles.
Weeks 11-12: Measurement and Data

Week 11:

Day 1: Introduction to measurement - Measuring length using different units (inches, feet, centimeters, meters).
Day 2: Measuring weight and capacity.

Week 12:

Day 1: Reading and interpreting data - Reading and creating bar graphs.
Day 2: Analyzing data - Solving word problems involving data interpretation.

 

This lesson plan provides a structured approach to teaching various mathematical concepts throughout the spring semester, ensuring alignment with the Common Core Standards for Grade 4. Adjustments can be made based on the pace of the class and individual student needs.
