Learning and playing a math game in a small group environment in order to practice ten-plus facts, teen subtraction facts, and to decompose and reconstruct numbers.
Class experience
Students will spend the first 5-10 minutes of class learning to play a new math game in which they will practice ten-plus facts, teen subtraction facts, and decomposing/recombining numbers. The remaining class time, student will play the math game with other learners while teacher guides learning. This is an exciting, fun, and relaxing way to build math fluency, sharpen quantitative skills, and build math confidence.
Students will practice ten-plus facts. Students will practice teen subtraction facts. Students will decompose and recombine numbers.
Learning through play is the most successful approach for young learners. Making it fun gives students motivation to continue to practice their new skills. I love spending time encouraging young learners through focused play!
1 file available upon enrollmentSix documents will be provided. Please print one copy of each document. Please cut the card pages before class. If the family wishes to play the game after class, consider printing the cards on card stock for durability.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
