Overview: This course is designed to help students master multiplication and division facts, providing a solid foundation for success in math. Students will develop fluency in multiplication (0-12) and division through engaging, interactive lessons and practice. The class combines structured instruction, creative reinforcement methods, and independent practice to ensure students build confidence and accuracy in their math skills. Topics Covered: -Multiplication Facts (0-12): Students will learn and practice multiplication facts through systematic lessons, focusing on accuracy and speed. -Division Facts: Students will gain a strong understanding of division as the inverse of multiplication, reinforcing their problem-solving abilities. -Mixed Multiplication & Division: Students will apply their skills by solving problems that combine both operations to strengthen connections between the two. Class Structure: Introduction and Instruction: Each class begins with a short review of previous material and an introduction to the day's topic. Students will learn new concepts or focus on a specific fact set (e.g., multiplying by 7s). Reinforcement Activities: To reinforce the material, students will participate in a variety of interactive and engaging activities, including: -Games that promote speed and accuracy (e.g., flashcards, mazes, tic tac toe, roll and race). -Worksheets and practice problems to build fluency. Group Interaction: The class encourages active participation through group games, partner activities, and class discussions. Practice worksheets. Fun puzzles and challenges. Problems we’ll work on together in class and additional exercises for home practice. These packets are designed to help students solidify their skills outside of class and will prepare them for the next lesson. Student-Teacher Interaction: Students will actively engage with the teacher and classmates during lessons through: Answering questions and participating in discussions. Group games and collaborative activities. One-on-one guidance during independent practice to check for understanding and provide individualized support. Course Schedule: Weeks 1–11: Multiplication -Focus on one multiplication fact per week (0-12). -Build fluency and confidence in multiplication before progressing to division. Weeks 12–22: Division -Explore division facts and their connection to multiplication. -Reinforce division as an essential operation with practical applications. Weeks 23–24: Mixed Multiplication and Division -Apply both skills to mixed problems. -Practice solving real-world scenarios involving multiplication and division. By the end of the course, students will be confident in their ability to recall multiplication and division facts quickly and accurately, laying the groundwork for more advanced math skills.
