Class Experience

This ongoing course is great for those who have a love for interior design and would like to explore their creativity by designing rooms. This is an ongoing course where learners will learn and practice. They will create rooms, create mood boards, utilize interior design software programs, give presentations, learn interior design principles, and learn how to apply the color theory when designing and decorating rooms.

In this class, learners will bring their visions to life by learning how to draw and create actual rooms in free design programs. Students will first design a living room after learners will create any room of their choice. They will have the flexibility to choose their own colors and furniture for the living room. After, they will have the freedom to get as creative as they would like from the size of a space, room choice, colors, layout, etc.

I am always open to questions and stop as I go to ensure that all learners are keeping up and understand ideas and concepts. Learners will learn at the beginning of class, have shorts breaks where we have fun by playing a quick game, then the students will resume learning and practice what they learned.

Week 1 (Week of November 1): Students will practice sketching room ideas. They will also learn about design principles and perspectives in the drawing.

Week 2 (Week of November 8): Students will create, learn about different kinds of mood boards, the purpose of mood boards for different phases of interior design projects, and create their own mood board using Canva and Pinterest.

Week 3 (Week of November 15): Learners will get familiar with an interior design software program and learn how to bring their floor plans to life. We will also discuss color theory and its importance in design as well as finishes.

Week 4 (Week of November 22): Students will gain more knowledge on design principles and terms. They will learn about color theory and how colors influence rooms. They will be challenged to create a room of their choice and implement all information learned throughout the course.

Week 5 (Week of November 29): Learners will practice presenting individual challenge projects. Learn about sustainability options for homes and designing rooms.
