Welcome, math detectives! You need to solve a crime that happened on a reality TV show by one of the contestants. Together, detectives, you will use order of operations strategies to solve various equations. You will learn an acrostic, play "bowling," jeopardy and bingo games, go through a maze, and create numerous equations to practice the order of operations. Each equation you solve with the order of operations will point you to more clues; the clues will lead you to catching the criminal!
Learning Goals
Using the order of operations:
Learners will define, describe and discuss the procedures for properly solving multi-step equations using the acrostic PEMDAS.
Leaners will apply PEMDAS to dozens of example equations.
Learners will formulate multi-step equations and solve them.
Learners will apply strategies taught to successfully play games and solve a mystery.

Learners should bring a whiteboard and marker or a pencil and paper to class.
