Class Experience

US Grade 7
This full-year seventh-grade math curriculum provides a comprehensive, interactive, and engaging learning experience designed to prepare students for pre-algebra and advanced math concepts. Students will explore rational numbers, equations, inequalities, ratios, proportions, percents, probability, statistics, and geometry in a structured and supportive environment. 

This live, interactive class meets weekly for 36 weeks and follows a structured approach to mastering seventh-grade math concepts. Each lesson includes live instruction, interactive practice, digital activities, problem-solving challenges, and real-world applications to ensure mastery of key concepts. Gamified learning, escape rooms, and hands-on projects make this class exciting and engaging!

This course includes guided notes provided for each lesson, as well as extra practice homework assignments for each lesson. Students should have a dedicated binder and notebook for the class. The teacher will help the students organize their notebooks and binders so notes, homework worksheets and other papers are kept in order throughout the class. 

Teaching Style: Engaging and interactive, with a balance of direct instruction, collaborative problem-solving, and hands-on activities. Throughout the entire class, many discussion questions will be asked in order to promote critical thinking, to help the students to relate to the lesson and to introduce each topic within the lesson.

This class is best for any student ages 10 to 14, or those students looking to practice the 7th grade math objectives or skills. Students do not need to know the concepts or topics of the class beforehand. We will learn and review in class.

Rational Numbers
 Learn what rational numbers are, how they include fractions, decimals, and integers, and how they are used in real life. We will explore number lines, ordering, and comparing rational numbers.

 Master adding integers using number lines, counters, and patterns. Solve real-world problems like temperature changes and financial gains or losses.

We have experience working with learners of all abilities, including ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ASD and more. Learners of all abilities are welcomed and encouraged to join us in class. Please contact us for more information.
Parental Guidance
This course uses Zoom with screen-sharing for interactive lessons. No additional accounts are required. Some lessons include digital activities and online math games on teacher-approved platforms. Parents are encouraged to review weekly homework and help their child stay organized.
Pre-Requisites
Students should have completed any 6th grade math course. They should be comfortable with basic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), fractions, decimals, and simple equations. No pre-algebra experience required.

This curriculum was developed by and used with the permission from Ms. Ashley, an admin and SBA teacher. Ms. Ashley graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor’s degree, majoring in both education and mathematics. Later, she went on to also earn a TESOL teacher’s certificate. She has taught over 10,000+ virtual classes in all subjects over several years on different platforms. She has 18+ years of tutoring/teaching experience, both virtual and in-person, as well as 16 years+ of experience as a volunteer teacher, tutor, and coach in schools and classrooms. In addition to teaching, Ms. Ashley is part of curriculum development and review team for an online ELA and math teaching/tutoring company, where she also serves as a Learning Partner and Academic Advisor for incoming students. Other related experience includes ELA and math tutoring the University of Connecticut Student Center, substitute teaching in the public school system and working for five years as a Financial Controller of a litigation support firm with offices across the United States. Ms. Ashley truly values each and every student, and she hopes to help them to find a love of learning.
