US Grade 1
Students will acquire tons of new math skills in this class. As they go begin their journey in first grade, students should be familiar with a number of concepts in order for them to be successful and learn more advanced topics and math strategies. I will incorporate 'Boom Cards' interactive games, worksheets and hands-on craft. There will also be video clips, and slides for further understanding. These skill and strategies will help better prepare and understand the math concepts being taught in first grade. Here is the breakdown of the 8-week course: Week 1: Be able to count, identify and write numbers Week 2: Perform one-digit addition and subtraction Week 3: Greater than and Less Than Week 4: Familiarity with patterns and shapes Week 5: Knowledge of place value (ones, tens, etc.) Week 6: Calendar (Write the date; tell time; read a calendar) Week 7: Read and use a pictograph, bar graph and tally chart to compare information Week 8: Money: Understanding coins and dollars Feel free to send questions regarding the class prior to enrolling. I am a certified elementary school teacher. I teach all subjects in early childhood and elementary education. A folder is highly recommended ( to put all assignments inside) worksheets will be provided upon enrollment ( parents will be given a worksheet per week) crayons ( will be needed for the crafts) pencil (will be needed for the worksheets) glue (glue stick) maybe needed for the craft portion of the lesson
