Class Experience
Students will acquire tons of new math skills in this class. As they go begin their journey in first grade, students should be familiar with a number of concepts in order for them to be successful and learn more advanced topics and math strategies. I will incorporate 'Boom Cards' interactive games, worksheets and hands-on craft. There will also be video clips, and slides for further understanding. Students will count to 120. Students will read number words 1-20. Students will represent a number of objects with a written numeral 1-20. Students will use pictures and words to compare numbers through 10. Students will model the concept of addition as increasing. Students will solve addition sentences using + and =. Students will write addition sentences in vertical form. Students will solve subtraction sentences using - and =. Students will write subtraction sentences to show the difference. Students will subtract in vertical form. Students will represent data with tally marks. Students will read and use a pictograph to compare information. Students will read a bar graph and use it to compare information. Students will use bar graphs to solve problems. Students will understand greater than and less than Students will read a calendar, tell time; write the date) Students will learn how to represent a number line Student will learn about money: coins and dollars
