Class Experience
This 3 session math camp will allow students to review operations with fractions and mixed numbers. Students will learn tips and tricks for understanding word problems and how to solve them. Practice word problems will focus on fractions and mixed numbers and will include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division examples. Below is the topic for each session of the course: Session 1: Reviewing Fractions, Improper Fractions, Mixed Numbers, and Fraction Operations Session 2: Adding...
Students will be able to analyze fraction word problems and solve for the correct answer.
I have a B.S. in Secondary Mathematics Education from the University of South Florida. I have experience teaching Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry in a public Middle School. I have 10+ years of experience as a math tutor for ages 11 to 18.
Optional homework will be assigned at the conclusion of each session. It will consist of 4 to 6 problems and will take no longer than 20 minutes.
Students will have a guided notes sheet available to be printed out.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Students will be assessed informally through the practice problems and class interactions. Students will have the opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge through whiteboard annotate as they explain how they solved various problems.
2 hours per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
I will screen share some example questions from Khan Academy. Optional homework may be assigned through Khan Academy. Students are not required to create a Khan Academy account for this course.
