Each day during this four-day math intensive we will practice counting forwards and backwards by 1's, 2's, 5's and 10's, and practice adding and subtracting both as written problems and mental math. The four days blend into each other as games such as magic squares and math bingo will be used each day to practice math facts. Students will be encouraged to create their own math story problems, learn how to read a number line and follow multiple step problems. The content is a review of second grade math concepts in preparation for third grade math.
As this is a short, intensive course, there will generally not be assigned homework in between meetings.
Pencil and paper, colored pencils and a ruler are required.
3 hours 45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
