This remedial online math class meets once a week and is designed specifically for middle school students who need to strengthen their foundational 4th and 5th-grade math skills. The course focuses on key areas such as arithmetic, fractions, decimals, basic geometry, and early algebraic thinking. Each session includes engaging fluency games to reinforce skills and make learning enjoyable. Game-based homework assignments are provided to further practice and solidify understanding outside of class. This course is ideal for students who have struggled with math concepts in the past and need targeted support to build confidence and competence in a fun, interactive learning environment.

Learning Goals

Develop Number Sense:
Students will demonstrate a solid understanding of place value and number sense with whole numbers up to millions.

Master Basic Arithmetic:
Students will accurately perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of multi-digit numbers.

Place Value and Number Sense for Decimal numbers

 Understanding Place Value up to hundredths place

Rounding Decimals

 Students will learn to round decimals to the nearest whole number, tenth, or hundredth by using place value understanding and number lines to determine which benchmark the decimal is closest to.

Decimal Addition

 Students will learn to add decimals by aligning place values, using models and strategies to find the sum accurately, and applying their understanding to real-world problems.

Decimal Subtraction

 Students will learn to subtract decimals by lining up the decimal points, using place value understanding and visual models to find the difference, and solving real-world problems involving decimal subtraction.
