In this class students explore the conepts of math though hands-on art activities. Each week students will have the opportunity to create an art project that introduces a math concept. Each math concept is presented through inviting and easily managed art ideas that allow the child to discover the concept at their own pace. Students will learn actively, building a foundation for more complex math skills. This Preschool/Kindergarten readiness class emphasises the processes and not the ending product of each art project. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is Gabby Rogers and I have been teaching children since I was fifteen years old. I am a mother of three very active kids, one dog and two cats. I teach phonics, letter recognition, preschool math, and preschool science classes.
I received a BS degree from Brigham Young University in Recreation Management Youth Leadership. I also have an Early Child Education Certificate. I have been a preschool teacher for 3 years. I have worked with elementary-aged children as an afterschool tutor. I have thought classes to elementary-age children in several subjects which included, arts and crafts, first aid, CPR, and Leadership training. I have been teaching English as a Second Language online for the past 5 years. I am trilingual (English, Spanish, American Sign language). I play the flute and piano. I enjoy dancing and singing. I have been a member of several dance groups in my community.
I am a homeschooling mother and have taught my own children how to read using the same phonics program I teach at Outschool. I love teaching children. I believe that children learn best when allowed to play and learn through trial and error. It is an honor to teach children, and I look forward to teaching your child.
My teaching philosophy is that I believe that each student is an individual and they learn in their own unique way. I use multiple methods of teaching (linguistic, visual, auditory, kinesthetic) to reach students so that everyone has the same opportunity to learn. I use a play-based learning approach in my classroom. I believe that play is the highest form of learning. Play help students learn through trial-and-error, discovery, and exploration.
