50 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Students will learn the rules of German Bridge, and play the game. During the game, we will be discussing basic concepts of probability, practicing math with the scoring system, and developing and improving our strategies. A focus of the class will be to learn to be flexible and change their strategies when things are not working out. In this class, we will: - Quickly learn the rules of the game. - Play the game, while discussing strategies and choices throughout the class. - Each student will have the chance to share strategies and their reasoning with the class, and to give feedback on other students’ strategies. - Score each round using math (arithmetic operations). I will be facilitating the card games by dealing the cards to students through Google slides (or students can use a deck of card at home if they do not wish to use Google slides) No prior experience with card games is needed. This class can be taken again for those who know the game as we can learn from different players each time! If your child is younger, you might consider the same class (with the same class title) for younger age group. ================================================================ Brief introduction of the game of German Bridge: German Bridge is a variation of bridge games. The players will be dealt with the same number of cards. In each turn, the players take turn to play one of their cards. The player with the highest card (or the card from the selected trump suit) will win that turn. Before the first turn, players will guess how many turns they will win. Scores will be determined by whether they made the correct guess. Throughout the game, the player needs to adjust their strategies as it will be affected by the decisions by other players.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Wing. I teach math, logic and problem solving, with a clear focus on improving math skills, as well as how math is used throughout our daily lives. Board games are often used in my classes as a fun way to learn and practice different skills, and to interact with other students.
I have been teaching since 2001, after I completed my bachelor’s degree in computing science. My teaching experiences have mostly been in classroom settings, where I have taught math and computers in middle school/high school. Other teaching experiences include tutoring, along with assisting youth in work placements. In 2009, I completed my post-graduate teaching certificate and my master’s degree in software technology.
My primary teaching approach is to allow students to learn through first-hand experiences and reflections on their experiences. For math classes, this may involve working through math problems related to daily life, as well as word problems for a variety of topics. For lessons involving board games with logic and math, minimal instruction will be given to students, so that they have a chance to think through various strategies while they play. After playing, we will discuss the strategies and look back at the decision-making processes during the game.
During my spare time, I enjoy cooking and watching documentaries. Also, I love spending time with my kids while playing board games, going for walks and playing basketball together.
