In this five-week class, students will practice one, two, and three-digit multiplication problems. The class will be fun and free from pressure and judgment. At the beginning of each class, students will have the opportunity to draw, play games, and socialize. Although math is an important subject, it is not always the most exciting for students. That's why I've added a fun aspect to the class to grab students' attention and keep them engaged in learning. All classwork will be posted before the start of class, and all homework will be provided through messages and the classroom discussion board. In this class, students will... - Be encouraged to participate in group practice - Play math games and watch videos that are related to multiplication - Submit their practice worksheets for review and feedback - Be rewarded with a coupon to use toward the purchase of one of Miss Brandy's other classes, if they submit practice work that they have completed outside of class. - Have an opportunity to discuss assignments and share with other learners on the classroom discussion board. *** Miss Brandy will provide worksheets for practice*** Five week breakdown ----------------------------------- WEEK 1: Review- students will share their knowledge of multiplication and we will discuss any strengths and weaknesses. We will learn about arrays, manipulatives and 100s charts. WEEK 2: One digit multiplication-After reviewing arrays, 100s charts, and manipulatives, students will practice one-digit multiplication problems. They will use skip counting, manipulatives, and arrays to solve problems both as a group and individually. WEEK 3: Add Big Numbers- Students will learn how to solve two-digit multiplication problems after reviewing one-digit multiplication. They will practice both individually and as a group. WEEK 4:Test Our Knowledge- Students will review both one-digit and two-digit multiplication problems as a group and individually. WEEK 5: Speed Practice: Miss Brandy will provide Math Games and worksheets to help students practice solving multiplication problems.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of multiplication and increase speed in solving multiplication facts.
