Payments for the upcoming week are processed every Sunday. To avoid being charged for upcoming missed lessons, please contact me before the Sunday when payment is processed. Once payment has been processed for a lesson, refunds will not be provided. However, learners will have the opportunity to make up missed lessons. If the course is paid for in full upon enrollment, learners will have the opportunity to make up missed lessons.

Grade 5 focuses on three key advancements from previous years: (1) developing fluency with addition and subtraction of fractions, and developing understanding of multiplication and division of fractions in certain cases; (2) integrating decimal fractions into the place value system and developing fluency with operations with whole numbers and decimals to hundredths; and (3) developing understanding of volume. Unit 4: Wrapping Up Multiplication and Division with Multi-Digit Numbers

Unit 5: Place Value Patterns and Decimal Operations

Unit 6: More Decimal and Fraction Operation

Unit 7: Shapes on the Coordinate Plane

Unit 8: Putting It All Together

Class Structure: We will begin each session with an opening activity.  Students will learn and practice a NEW skills each week.  Each session will conclude with a summary of what was covered and what's coming next!  The class structure is purposed to teach 6th grade math standards.  

Teaching Style:  Student-Centered !!!  LOTS of interactive activities, games and discussions !!!  Research proves that a student-centered instructional model is key to learning!  

Interaction Level:  Medium to High !!!  Students will have an opportunity to engage with me and each other through games, video clips and discussions!  It is my first priority to ensure the safety of all students so open chat and open microphone will be limited.  All interactive activities are selected to maximize learning while providing a safe environment to do so!

Parental Guidance
External resources will be used to enhance learning. These resources will be used during class time via screen share or during independent work time. Some external resources used will require student accounts which will be activated and assigned by the teacher at no additional cost to you. The teacher will assign generic (no personal identifiers) username/passwords for each student. The student will only have access to their generic accounts while enrolled in my course. All external resources have been vetted and approved to be appropriate for learning. Many of these external resources will only be utilized via screen share. However, if an approved tool will be used outside of the Zoom platform you will be notified prior too. External resources are subject to change but the current external resources are: Google Applications.
