This is the second semester of Math 1. Math 1 is a course that is typically taught in 9th grade in states that follow the integrated model. In this course we will study algebra, geometry, functions, number and operations, statistics and modeling. Each class we will meet and learn concepts together. We will have a weekly quiz to help with understanding this will be turned in via a google form. The quiz itself will be on paper. Although assignments are provided, you will be expected to self-check your work and reach out to me with any questions. Assignments are practice, by doing the assignments you will be more comfortable with the concepts. You will have worked out solutions to most problems. We will do many of the lessons on Desmos. It is important to explore math concepts together in a way that you feel comfortable to participate. This can be done as a group, via private chat or another way. I try to help my students feel comfortable to participate in their own way. We will be using the Desmos website to do lessons and activities together as well as Powerpoint and the Zoom white board. In Semester 2 our focus will be on Geometry but we will be utilizing algebraic concepts throughout the semesster. Week 1: Point, Lines and Planes: Basics of Geometry Week 2: Using midpoint and distance formula on the coordinate plane Week 3: Angles, angles and more angles Week 4: Introduction to Proofs Week 5: Parallel and Perpendicular Line properties Week 6: Parallel and Perpendicular Line Properties Week 7: Rigid Transformation: Translation and Reflection Week 8: Transformations: Rotation and Dilations Week 9: More Proofs Week 10: Triangle Congruency Week 11: Triangle Congruency Week 12: Coordinate Geometry Week 13 Coordinate Geometry Week 14: Modeling Data We will also be learning to use a calculator. Whether it's the Desmos Scientific Calculator (online or phone app) or the TI-84 calculator, we will learn to use technology. Please let me know if you would like a grade for this class, the grades will come from the weekly quizzez, a midterm test and a final test. I do allow test corrections on most problems.

I have a Masters of Mathematics and am a licensed secondary math and financial literacy teacher. I also teach a math class for a local university. I love the exploration of math and plan to explore it in all of my classes. I also have a love of real world application and will also be teaching financial literacy courses.
My semester long classes will include plenty of exploration but will also be courses that will allow students to understand and practice concepts. As far as core classes go I teach Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus and Financial Literacy.
I have taught in ages 12 to 18 in a traditional classroom. I have also spent time volunteering and substituting in elementary math classes. I have worked with many students that have math anxiety and look forward to working with your students.
Feel free to request classes. I teach both integrated math as well as algebra, geometry, trignometry and statistics as well as financial literacy. I have received certification through NGPF to teach financial literacy.
