US Grade 5 - 8
The student and I will go over and discuss any area in Math he/she needs assistance with. We will go over the problems step by step and practice with a few short fun games. The learner will need to provide a list or description of where help is needed. For example, if the student needs help with fractions, please mention this before our session. We will discuss simpler ways to solve equations. The students will learn and be more confident in solving problems on their own. Unlock the exciting world of numbers through engaging lessons tailored for elementary students! This class focuses on building strong foundational math skills using interactive activities, real-world examples, and fun games to keep young learners motivated. Example Topics: Addition & Subtraction Adventures: Solve puzzles and real-life problems while mastering basic operations. Multiplication Made Easy: Learn times tables with songs, stories, and hands-on practice. Shapes and Patterns: Discover geometry by creating patterns and identifying shapes in everyday life. Math in Action: Explore how math is used in cooking, shopping, and more! Simplifying Fractions Simplify: 18/24 = 3/4 24/18 = 4/3 Simplify: 45/60 = 3/4 60/45 = 4/3 Adding & Subtracting Fractions Add: 3/8+5/8 = 8/8 = 1 8/3+ 8/5 = 8/8 = 1 Subtract: 7 10 − 2 5 = 7 10 − 4 10 = 3 10 10 7 − 5 2 = 10 7 − 10 4 = 10 3 Add: 4 9 + 2 3 = 4 9 + 6 9 = 10 9 = 1 1 9 9 4 + 3 2 = 9 4 + 9 6 = 9 10 =1 9 1 Subtract: 5 6 − 1 4 = 10 12 − 3 12 = 7 12 6 5 − 4 1 = 12 10 − 12 3 = 12 7 Multiplying & Dividing Fractions Multiply: 3 5 × 2 7 = 6 35 5 3 × 7 2 = 35 6 Divide: 4 9 ÷ 2 3 = 4 9 × 3 2 = 12 18 = 2 3 9 4 ÷ 3 2 = 9 4 × 2 3 = 18 12 = 3 2 Multiply: 5 8 × 4 5 = 20 40 = 1 2 8 5 × 5 4 = 40 20 = 2 1 Divide: 7 12 ÷ 3 4 = 7 12 × 4 3 = 28 36 = 7 9 12 7 ÷ 4 3 = 12 7 × 3 4 = 36 28 = 9 7 Mixed Numbers & Improper Fractions Convert to an improper fraction: 3 2 5 = 17 5 3 5 2 = 5 17 Convert to a mixed number: 17 4 = 4 1 4 4 17 =4 4 1 Add: 2 1 3 + 1 4 5 = 7 3 + 9 5 = 35 15 + 27 15 = 62 15 = 4 2 15 2 3 1 +1 5 4 = 3 7 + 5 9 = 15 35 + 15 27 = 15 62 =4 15 2 Subtract: 5 3 4 − 2 1 2 = 23 4 − 5 2 = 23 4 − 10 4 = 13 4 = 3 1 4 5 4 3 −2 2 1 = 4 23 − 2 5 = 4 23 − 4 10 = 4 13 =3 4 1 Word Problems Sarah baked a cake and ate 2 5 5 2 of it. Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi everyone! My name is Teresa and I am very excited to teach here on Outschool. I have over 16 years of veterinary nursing experience in a variety of areas including emergency veterinary medicine and wildlife veterinary medicine. I also have degrees in Biology, Veterinary Technology and a Master's degree in Animal Science. Throughout my years as a veterinary nurse, I have also taught classes to students of all ages (both children and adults) which included Art, Math, Science, ESL, Writing, Spanish, and Veterinary Medicine. This unique experience with the students motivated me to also pursue a TEFL certificate and professional tutoring certification.
On Outschool I will be teaching students about animal care and wildlife combined with Art. This will allow students to be creative while learning how we can help our animals and how we can better coexist with them. Animals and art are two of my interests. I can't wait to share all the fun ideas and bring them to life with the students.
