Celebrate "Twos"-day! In this one time class we will brainstorm things that come in pairs, master our doubles multiplication facts, and practice adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing by 2 through interactive puzzles and games!

***The perfect way to celebrate the upcoming special date "Twosday": 2-22-22! *** This one time class is all about the number 2! We will make real world math connections by brainstorming things that come in pairs and then use those to practice our doubles multiplication facts. We will also make the connection between finding half and dividing by 2. We will complete open-ended math puzzles with 2's and play fun, exciting, interactive games to practice our 2's! The best way to build math confidence, master math concepts and build fluency and accuracy is for students to make connections to their own lives and interests in a relaxed, fun environment! So let's have fun with those 2's on Twosday and master our doubles!
Learning Goals
Students will gain a deep understanding of the number 2, including adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing by 2. Students will work towards mastery of their 2's multiplication facts.

Parental Guidance
*We will be using the educational platform Nearpod for slide presentation, collaborative brainstorming and skill practice through matching activities and games. I will provide a direct link to the specific teacher-created interactive lesson. Students will simply click on the link and enter a nickname to join the lesson/activities. NO student login/account to the website will be required.
*We will be playing math games through the website Blooket. I will provide a direct link to the specific self-created game. Students will simply enter a nickname to join the game. NO student login/account to the website will be required.
*We will be using the instructional workspace Google Jamboard for collaborative brainstorming, puzzle solving and skill practice. I will provide a direct link to the specific teacher-created Jamboard. Students will simply click on the link to join that board. NO student login/account to the website will be required.
We will be playing age-appropriate fast-paced, competitive games. Some games may have timers in order to focus on fact fluency, and some may have elements in which players can sabotage each other in small ways. I will make sure these are played in light-hearted, respectful and fun way, but this class may not be the best fit for learners sensitive to or anxious about these types of games.
Supply List
-Print-outs will be provided, but not required for class (all classwork can be completed digitally on screen) -We will be using interactive educational platforms Nearpod and Blooket. While these will work on a single device along side Zoom, some students may prefer to have a second device for these (Zoom on one device, Nearpod or Blooket on the second)

I am a certified teacher (Grades 1-6) with a Masters in both Elementary Education and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I have over 20 years of classroom, small group and one-on-one experience. Math has been my focus for the past 5 years.
