Description
Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
Students will become more familiar with specific artists, time periods, techniques, art materials, and artistic analysis.
I'm an artist, photographer, and author from East Texas. I love to connect art with everything else in life—math, science, history, and language arts. I've been homeschooling for 19 years and have taught children's art classes privately and through local afterschool programs. My photography has been internationally published. I also wrote a book about photography! As a home educator with an eclectic view on teaching methods (including classical education, the trivium, Charlotte Mason, the Socratic Method, unschooling, and child-directed learning), I see the power of making connections in everything we do. Art happens to be my favorite tool to use when guiding students in making connections as well.
Students may complete their art project on their own if it is not completed during the live class meeting.
Students may use whatever supplies they have and are comfortable with. Suggestions will be provided as well as direction on how to use those supplies.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be asked to recall the things they found most interesting in the class, to share their artwork with the class, and to give feedback to other students on their artwork as well.
1 hour 10 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
A few of the paintings may contain subject matter that can be potentially disturbing for sensitive viewers such as brief nudity and or depictions of war and nightmares. A warning will be posted in the classroom the week before one of these painting subjects is scheduled.
