Class Experience

Students will learn and practice drawing strategies, oil pastel techniques, and watercolor painting techniques. We will learn about the characteristics of a new artwork each day, and apply them to the artworks we create together.
As a traditional classroom teacher, many of the lessons I designed were inspired by the work of master artists throughout history. This class combines all of my very favorite things: artist studies, art history, drawing, painting, and still leaves room for each student's unique creative spark. I'm excited to share these quick, fun lessons with my students!
Some students may wish to use extra time to finish their artworks.
 1 file available upon enrollment
Projects will alternate between oil pastels and watercolors. A complete supply list is listed below: - Oil pastels (recommend Pentel or Cray-Pas, both available on Amazon, or at art supply stores for under $10) - 9x12" Construction paper/drawing paper/cardstock- in a variety of colors - Watercolor paints (recommend Yarka or Prang, both available on Amazon, or at art supply stores for under $10) - Paint brush (medium size) - Water cup, paper towels - 9x12" Watercolor paper (available on Amazon, or at art supply stores for under $10) **Other media may be substituted if supplies are hard to come by. The final look of the project will slightly differ, but our projects are adaptable!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
3 hours 40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Younger students may need some help to set up their art space before class begins.
