Welcome to an art class that has a little bit of everything: drawing, painting, history, people, animals, still life-- we're here to do it all! Each session will be structured just like Ms. Kristy's classic Masterpiece Academy classes: We'll introduce an artist, talk about their history while looking at their paintings, and then have a step-by-step lesson to draw or paint one of their most famous artworks-- together! Students will be introduced to the works of six famous artists, and their place in Western art history. Students will create artworks exploring a range of subjects (people, animals, still life, landscape). Students' artworks will be created using a variety of media (drawing, painting, pastels, colored pencils). We want to experience a lot of stuff!
I'm an art teacher who has been working with students of all ages for a couple of decades! Most of the classes that I taught in public school were survey courses, covering a variety of subjects, media, techniques, and academia (including art history and critique). We've done everything, from drawing, to painting, to sculpture, to mixed media. I'm excited to teach a course for Outschool that has such a wide range of focus!
This class will cover a wide range of materials! Some substitutions may be possible (although the finished project may look a little different).
