Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
In Mastering the TI-84 Calculator for the ACT Math Section recorded class, students will learn how to fully utilize their TI-84 calculator to tackle a wide range of math problems on the ACT. The course will cover essential calculator functions, such as transferring programs, using pre-loaded calculator programs for specific problem types, and mastering key calculator features like graphing and solving equations. Students will also learn how to navigate the calculator’s menus and settings to ensure they’re using the most effective tools for each question. Additionally, I’ll walk them through numerous example problems, demonstrating how to apply the calculator’s programs to solve ACT math problems quickly and accurately.
The course is structured in a clear, step-by-step format. First, students will be guided through the process of transferring programs from a computer to the TI-84, ensuring they know how to set up their calculators properly. Following this, I’ll dive into the core lessons, demonstrating how to use the programs and features in practical scenarios. Each lesson will focus on a specific calculator function, such as solving quadratic equations. I will then provide detailed walkthroughs of example problems, showing exactly how to use the calculator to find solutions efficiently. Each example will be broken down into manageable steps to ensure students understand how the calculator’s features can help them work through problems faster and more accurately.
I teach in a hands-on, results-oriented manner. While the class is pre-recorded, I aim to make it as interactive as possible by providing clear, actionable instructions that students can follow at their own pace. The use of video clips is key to demonstrating each calculator function, and students will be encouraged to pause the video and try out the steps on their own calculators before moving on to the next section. By teaching in this practical way, I ensure that students are not just passively watching, but actively engaging with the material and building their skills as they go.
My teaching style is clear, methodical, and focused on practical application. I focus on breaking down complex ideas into simple, manageable steps and making sure students feel confident in their ability to use the calculator for any ACT math question. While this is a self-paced, recorded class, I encourage students to interact with the material by pausing and practicing on their own calculators. By the end of the course, students will feel equipped to use their TI-84 calculator confidently on the ACT math section, armed with efficient strategies and a solid understanding of how to leverage technology to improve their scores.
