Students will learn how to construct a basic five paragraph essay. Students will learn how to develop an outline. Students will learn the elements of an essay.
The teachers offering this course have experience teaching writing at upper levels including high school, adult basic education, and university students. Learners will have the opportunity to submit their work for feedback and review. This course has a higher level of expectations than the middle school writing course; however, high school aged learners that are just starting on essays or need more guidance are encouraged to enroll.
Homework Offered
Learners will submit a rough draft and revision of their essay.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Feedback will be given in-text and on a rubric.Grades Offered
All material will be provided during and after class. Learners will need a writing program or application to type and submit work; however, work may also be typed in the classroom chat.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
