Class Experience
Dear Student, This class will give you a clear roadmap for writing that will last through high school and beyond. Some of the same skills I learned from my fifth grade teacher, I used to write my masters thesis over ten years later. With a strong foundation, the many papers you will write throughout your year's of school will become easy and even fun! Students will write a well-constructed five paragraph essay,
Ms. Merkling has spent over a decade as a core subject teacher in elementary school. She holds a K-12 principal license. She currently works as a K-8 principal. She has extensive training in reading and writing, including trainings in Step Up to Writing, Benchmark Writing, Six Trait Writing, Spalding, Wilson, and Fundations.
While many student will finish in class, some students may require additional writing time outside of class. The essay is written over a two week period and students following the schedule would never have more than five sentences to write outside of class time.

3 hours 45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
