Is your student planning on applying to one of the hundreds of colleges that accept the Common App? Do they want to learn how to significantly up-level their Common App essay writing and personal narrative? Do they recognize that mastering the Common App essay is an extremely important part of the Common App? This is the 1-on-1 coaching session for them! 

NOTE: It is highly recommended that your learner complete "Crafting a Powerful College Admissions Essay and Personal Statement" with Ms. Rena before enrolling in this class.

This session is led by a Harvard graduate with extensive experience working with high schoolers on college admissions essay coaching.

Each 1-on-1 session is designed for your student to receive customized Common App essay coaching and advice, no matter what shape or form their Common App essay is in.* Your student will receive valuable writing coaching in order to make their Common App essay authentic, powerful, and concise. Whether your student has a full draft ready or they are still wading through the prompt selection, Ms. Rena will meet your student where they are.

Topics that might be covered:

1. Comprehension of all the prompt options - breaking down each prompt piece by piece and understanding how your student's personal journey may or may not align with each.
2. Evaluation of the current status of your student's Common App essay - what stage is it in? What are the main areas of improvement?  
2. Prompt adherence - is the content that's being presented aligned with the prompt? If not, how can that alignment be improved?
3. Essay-writing coaching - guidance given on things like clarity, organization, flow, coherence, structure, etc.
4. Next draft guidance - what steps can your student take to improve their next Common App essay draft?

*PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING: More than one session will most likely be needed, due to the draft iteration process. Start with booking one session with Ms. Rena to see if it's a good fit. The first session will be an introductory session. Typically, Ms. Rena will let you know how many more sessions are required. Sporadic and à la carte booking is discouraged.
