Do you think you're the biggest theatre nerd out there? Do you want to pursue Musical Theatre but you're not sure where to start or what it's all about? Come chat with me and other learners who love musical theatre! I am a graduate of CAP21 Conservatory in New York City where I earned a BFA in Theatre Arts learning from current Broadway performers, writers, directors, vocal coaches and more! This will be an on-going discussion based class where we will cover all sides of musical theatre. We will dive deep into famous and pivotal musicals (as well as shows by request), learn about the history of theatre, famous composers and writers, how to pursue theatre as a career, and more topics will be added based on learner interest and discussion. I will have a base structure for each topic with important facts and figures, but this is a discussion based class first and foremost, where all ideas will be explored as much as we are able! Learners are encouraged to bring any memorabilia from musicals we are discussing that they'd like to share. This could be playbills, posters, merchandise, anything you want to show off and talk about! ATTN: There will be no classes the week of August 2. *Week of August 9: Industry Talk! Q+A about all things working in theatre, auditioning, theatre workshops, news updates from AEA, different avenues of theatre, and general discussion about being a working artist. *Week of August 16: Civil Rights in Musical Theatre *Week of August 23: Andrew Lloyd Webber: Cats, Phantom of the Opera, and more. More topics to come!! *Topics are subject to change to improve quality of discussion among learners. Any changes will always be edited in class listing as well as posted in the classroom as necessary.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, I’m Claire. It’s so nice to meet you! I am a grown up theatre kid through and through. Ever since my first musical at the age of 5, I have been passionate about musical theatre.
I am currently a professional actor and singer based in New York City. A few of my favorite performances have been in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, A Chorus Line, The Music Man, and The Little Mermaid.
I have attended highly ranked theatre programs such as Walnut Hill Summer Theatre, as well as graduating high school from Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan. I then continued on to receive my BFA in Musical Theatre from CAP21 Conservatory in New York City.
As an autistic adult artist, I am also a member of EPIC Players NYC, a neuro-diverse theater company dedicated to inclusion and representation of all abilities. With EPIC I am both a performer, mentor and teaching artist. I give one on one support to players and assist in classes such as Scene Study, Vocal Performance, and Acting.
I love teaching because I have always been inspired by all the teachers and mentors who have helped me get to where I am today. I want to inspire the next generation of performers and share the tools you need to be successful as a musical theatre performer and all around artist!
My philosophy behind teaching:
I am the type of teacher that will work with each individual learner to meet them where they are and find the best approach to learning and growth. I don't believe in only one way to teach or learn because everyone is different, and we will find what works for you!
I believe that learning should be fun and move forward at a pace that works for everyone. If you really love something, why not dive in deeper?
I am passionate about creating a space in the classroom where learners feel encouraged and supported so that we can all be the best version of ourselves at all times. Theatre has always been my safe haven, and I want to be able to create that space for as many young artists as possible. I am an advocate for all students finding their own way of self-expression and artistry. There is no "one right way" to be an artist or performer, and I hope to encourage students to find their own voice and creative process.
Aside from teaching musical theatre, I am also TESOL certified and teach English as a Second Language to students online, teach theatre at summer camps, and have helped children ages 3-13 with school work and enrichment as a nanny and caregiver. I love teaching children of all ages!
Whether you’re preparing for an audition with the community theatre, looking into high school or college programs, or just want to have fun with singing, acting and dancing, take a look at my classes to dive into all things musical theatre, acting, and so much more.
Some other notable passions of mine include: my dogs, donuts, hiking, the environment, and creative writing!
If you have any questions or requests for class sections please feel free to inbox me anytime. I hope to see you soon!
