Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Unlock the magic of math with "Mastering Math with Prodigy," an engaging and interactive course designed to make learning math fun and effective. Utilizing the popular Prodigy Math game, this course blends educational gameplay with structured lessons to help students strengthen their math skills in an enjoyable way.

Students will explore and master a wide range of math concepts tailored to their grade level, including:

Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
Fractions and decimals
Geometry and measurement
Algebraic thinking
Problem-solving and critical thinking skills

Each week, we MAY focus on specific math topics, such as:

Week 1-2: Number Sense and Operations
Week 3-4: Fractions and Decimals
Week 5-6: Geometry and Measurement
Week 7-8: Algebraic Concepts
Week 9: Data Analysis and Probability
Week 10: Review and Advanced Problem-Solving

It is possible that we work at each student's pace as well.

Our classes are structured to combine the best of both worlds: guided instruction and independent practice within the Prodigy Math game environment.

Introduction and Warm-Up (5 minutes): Each class begins with a brief introduction to the day's topic and a fun warm-up activity.
Guided Instruction (10 minutes): I will provide direct instruction on the day's topic using interactive slides and real-world examples.
Game-Based Learning (40 minutes): Students will log into Prodigy Math to practice the concepts taught. I will be available to guide them and answer questions in real-time.
Discussion and Q&A (5 minutes): We will wrap up each session with a group discussion to review what we've learned and address any questions.

I employ a dynamic teaching style that emphasizes engagement, interaction, and practical application. My approach includes:

Interactive Lectures: Using slides and video clips to explain key concepts.
Game-Based Learning: Leveraging Prodigy Math to make practice fun and interactive.
Hands-On Activities: Encouraging students to solve problems collaboratively and individually.
Real-Time Feedback: Providing immediate assistance and feedback during game play and practice sessions.

Learners will have ample opportunities to interact with me through:

Live Lectures and Demonstrations: I will actively engage with students during instructional time.
Real-Time Game Play Support: During Prodigy Math sessions, I will provide guidance and answer questions in real-time.
Class Discussions: Encouraging students to share their thoughts and problem-solving strategies.
Q&A Sessions: Dedicated time at the end of each class for students to ask questions and seek clarification.

Learning Goals

Students will master key math concepts including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and geometry, demonstrated through their progress in Prodigy Math and class assessments.
Students will enhance problem-solving and critical thinking skills by applying math concepts in game-based learning and hands-on activities during class.
