Class Experience

US Grade 3
This class will review a great deal of the curriculum that a learner would have covered in a 3rd Grade math book.

It is meant to be used as a review for learners who will be moving into the 4th Grade math curriculum next school year (2023-2024). However, if you have a learner who will be moving into the 3rd Grade curriculum, next school year, but want a sneak peek (review) before the new school year begins...they are welcome to enroll as well.

My general suggestion is that parents start their learner off with reviewing the math curriculum within the previous school year. This way they can take a few weeks to gauge how much their learner has retained. Then, if the learner has mastered those concepts, they can be moved into the next level to review that curriculum and see how well they do with it.

During our REVIEW sessions learners will work toward mastering the following math concepts on a 3rd grade level: Comparing Numbers, Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Time, Money, Measures, Place Value, Rounding and more. I have purposely excluded graphing and geometry because they both stress me out and I want your learners to actually succeed in mastering those two skills. LOL

Comprehending mathematics may not come naturally to every student, but it should, at least, be fun and engaging! When students can’t see how math problems will be relevant to them in life they become less motivated to actually learn the concepts and instead memorize enough just to get a passing grade.

As an educator my goal is to help students find new and innovative ways to actually enjoy what they are learning in the classroom and retain the mathematical concepts.

Math is a very important and fundamental skill that students will need to rely on to be able to apply in their lives. I want to make sure that they have mastered each fundamental skill, not just passed a class.

**This 3rd Grade group session is designed to review the math concepts that we will be practicing. The instructor will help students along by giving tips, introducing them to new methods of solving and encouraging them to ask questions. This group is for REVIEWING and practicing the math concepts mentioned and mastering them further.

If you are interested in practicing any ONE SPECIFIC math concept further, please check out some of the fun virtual gaming clubs that I also offer.

Parental Guidance
Our group sessions are highly interactive and (sometimes) very competitive. The learners will have a chance to compete against each other (but also work together) each week and earn rewards as they play. Not all students will win. Learners should be able to exhibit good sportsmanship regardless if they win or lose. In this group the materials will be presented to the learners via an interactive Canva or Google slideshow presentation (shared on the teacher's device, only). We also may utilize Google Docs for the assessments. No external links will be clicked. No additional websites will be visited. No additional logins are necessary for the learners.
