US Grade 4
This class meets on an ongoing basis twice a week. During our weekly sessions, learners will work toward mastering the following math concepts on a fourth-grade level: Numbers, Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Decimals, Time, Money and more. Comprehending mathematics may not come naturally to every student, but it should, at least, be fun and engaging! When students can’t see how math problems will be relevant to them in life, they become less motivated to actually learn the concepts and instead memorize enough just to get a passing grade. As an educator my goal is to help students find new and innovative ways to actually enjoy what they are learning in the classroom and retain the mathematical concepts. Math is a very important and fundamental skill that students will need to rely on and be able to apply in their lives. I want to make sure that they have mastered each fundamental skill, not just passed a class. With there being so many different class sections, we understand that it can sometimes be difficult for parents to keep up with what their learner's class is currently studying. With this in mind, we will provide a newly updated class lesson breakdown on the last day of each month (for the next upcoming month). Below is a sequential outline of the first month's lessons. > > > AUTUMN SESSION - 11 WEEKS < < < Week of September 3rd: Comparing/Types of Numbers Week of September 10th: Place Value/Rounding Week of September 17th: Integer Numbers No Class - - - Sep. 24th - Sep. 30th - - - Autumn Break No Class - - - Oct. 1st - Oct. 7th - - - Autumn Break Week of October 8th: Multiples of A Number Week of October 15th: Multiples of A Number Week of October 22nd: Factors of A Number Week of October 29th: Factors of A Number Week of November 5th: Prime & Composite Numbers Week of November 12th: Addition w/Decimals Week of November 19th: Subtraction w/Decimals Week of November 26th: Multiplication w/Decimals > > > WINTER SESSION - 11 WEEKS < < < Week of December 3rd: Multiplication w/Decimals Week of December 10th: Multiplication w/Decimals Week of December 17th: Decimal Review + PEMDAS No Class - - - Dec. 24th - Dec. 30th - - - Winter Break No Class - - - Dec. 31st - Jan. 6th - - - Winter Break Week of January 7th: Fractions of A Whole + Types of Fractions Week of January 14th: Fractions as Division + Converting to Decimals Week of January 21st: Reducing/Simplifying Fractions Week of January 28th: Comparing Fractions Week of February 4th: Finding Multiples & Factors of A Number Week of February 11th: Finding a Common Denominator Week of February 18th: Adding & Subtracting Fractions Week of February 25th: Multiplying & Dividing Fractions > > > SPRING SESSION - 11 WEEKS < < < Week of March 3rd: Multiplying & Dividing Fractions Week of March 10th: Fraction Review Week of March 17th: Decimal Review Week of March 24th: PEMDAS Review Week of April 1st: Geometry Week of April 7th: Geometry Week of April 14th: Time No Class - - - Apr. 21st - Apr. 27th - - - Spring Break No Class - - - Apr. 28th - May 4th - - - Spring Break Week of May 5th: Time Week of May 12th: Measures Week of May 19th: Measures Week of May 26th: Mixed Review - All Skills >>>❗❗❗IMPORTANT❗❗❗<<< This class uses Nearpod which does not require an account or any login information; however, it does require an external link for access. Nearpod is a free program that allows teachers to share their class assignments with students, virtually, so that they can follow along. The only thing your learner will need to do is copy and paste the class link (that will be provided) and enter the class code into the Nearpod website or app (to access the assignment). After they’ve done it once or twice it will be easy peasy. 😊 >>> Each learner will be provided the following resources: . . . initially - printable anchor charts for referencing . . . weekly - website links for Nearpod class assignments . . . weekly - resources for optional extra practice . . . monthly - a printable progress assessment >>> Additional Options: For an extended length of instruction throughout the week, learners may enroll in both of the 2-day-a-week sections (Mon/Wed and Tue/Thu) giving them 4 days a week in total. ❗❗ 👑 IMPORTANT: KPE POLICIES 👑 ❗❗ Please click the following link to read our policies regarding: (1) Class Minimum Policy (2) Tardiness Policy (3) Camera Policy (4) Class Recording Policy (5) Makeup Class Policy (6) Transfer Policy (7) Refund Policy https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-muzsZCpFdu4u_I4MSb_yYypftxpDDSmfsMd8x9eZIs/edit?usp=sharing

Parental Guidance
Our math game sessions will be (mostly) cooperative, (highly) interactive and (sometimes) competitive. The learners will have a chance to compete against each other, work collaboratively and earn rewards as they play various math games and activities. Not all students will win whenever we do have competitions. Learners should be able to exhibit good sportsmanship regardless if they win or lose.

Teacher expertise and credentials
My experiences as a home educator and private school teacher have afforded me 10+ years teaching math concepts to students of all ages, including 4th graders. Throughout those years I have developed many ways to make math mastery attainable for learners within the different levels. My all-time favorite way is through gaming.
