My experiences as a home educator and private school teacher have afforded me 10+ years teaching math concepts to students of all ages, including 1st graders. Throughout those years I have developed many ways to make math mastery attainable for learners within the different levels. My all-time favorite way is through gaming.
There is no required homework; however, students are encouraged to continue practicing their math concepts outside of our group sessions. Resources for optional extra practice will be provided. Homework will not be assigned because the instructor does not enjoy grading papers. It stresses her out. 😂

Instead, the instructor will email communications (via Outschool) to parents/guardians regarding what the learner is excelling at and whether they notice any challenges, throughout the course, via an informal monthly progress assessment.
 3 files available upon enrollment
Required: - a notebook (for scratch paper and taking notes) - a pack of pencils with erasers - a pencil sharpener Suggested: - learners may also benefit from having access to a dry erase board, markers and eraser - access to a printer w/ink (for printing any pdf resources that the instructor may provide) - access to a ream of printer paper (for printing any bonus resources that the instructor may provide)
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
The instructor will email communications (via Outschool) to parents/guardians regarding what the learner is excelling at and whether they notice any challenges, throughout the course, via an informal monthly progress assessment.
2 hours 40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Our math game sessions will be (mostly) cooperative, (highly) interactive and (sometimes) competitive. The learners will have a chance to compete against each other, work collaboratively and earn rewards as they play various math games and activities. Not all students will win whenever we do have competitions. Learners should be able to exhibit good sportsmanship regardless if they win or lose.
