In this full curriculum course, students will delve into the world of math and learn how to master the concepts of area, perimeter, fractions, and measurement. Students with special needs welcome!

Class experience

US Grade 3
While specific learning targets will change week to work, some key goals include:
Unit 1: Area
- I can find the area of a rectangle.
- I can find the area of a composite shape. 
- I can use the commutative property of multiplication.
Unit 2: Shapes and Perimeter
- I can identify and categorize shapes based on their attributes.
- I can find the perimeter of a rectangle. 
- I can understand the difference between area and perimeter. 
Unit 3: Fractions
- I can identify the parts of a fraction and what they represent.
- I can understand that unit fractions are a whole and equal to 1. 
- I can find fractions on a number line and draw a number line to represent a given set of fractions. 
- I can compare fractions with the same and different denominators. 
- I can find equivalent fractions. 
- I can plot fractions on a line plot. 
Unit 4: Measurement
- I can tell time to the minute. 
- I can relate clocks to number lines. 
- I can solve problems involving elapsed time.
- I can understand mass and volume and solve problems using metric units. 
Certified teacher with 10+ years in the classroom. Certifications in Early Childhood (birth-2nd grade), Childhood (1st-6th grade), Special Education, Gifted and Talented Instruction, and Art Education. Master’s degree in Differentiated Instruction.

Assessments Offered
Students will be informally assessed daily through observations, class participation, and in-class work. Unit assessments will be provided. They are optional but will be graded and returned with feedback if completed. Students will also self-assess their skills at the beginning and end of each unit to see if their skills and confidence have grown in the content taught.
Grades Offered
-Dry erase board or dry erase sleeve for writing on printed templates
-Dry erase markers - preferably 3-5 colors
Recommended:
- Device with a touch screen, ideally with a stylus pen, that can connect to the Internet. The touch screen can be the primary device that is logged into Zoom, or a secondary device. From my teaching experience, students are better able to complete and show their math work with these tools. .
