In this 40-minute tutoring lesson, learners can bring current math homework assignments or topics to receive one-on-one instruction and additional practice. I will help the learner understand the concepts more thoroughly, answer learner questions, and provide additional practice problems to enhance the learner's understanding of the material covered. The goal of the lesson is to increase the learner's confidence in solving math problems independently by encouraging him or her to learn and think through the steps needed to solve them. This lesson is designed to meet learners where they are and build upon concepts they already know. It is individualized and tailored to each learner's specific needs. My teaching style and structure of the lesson is to first determine what knowledge the learner already has on the topic, what areas are needing extra reinforcement and explanation, explaining those areas using simple steps and easy to remember strategies, then asking the learner questions to help engage their minds to answer the problems with increasing independence. Extra practice will be provided at the end of the lesson, time permitting, and can also be given to the learner to complete outside of the lesson. This class is scheduled by request for continued learning week to week! Each class is tailored for your learner's current math needs! Sample topics include a range of subject material from kindergarten level mathematics through Algebra and Geometry. Homework assignments can be brought each class, or I can help develop a curriculum based on skills you would like your learner to improve upon and master! Refund Policy: No refunds will be issued for missed classes or classes cancelled by the learner within 48 hours of the start of class time. Learners will have the option to reschedule a class if at least a 48-hour notice is given.
Learning Goals

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Ms. Sarah! I am very excited to meet you! I recently finished 8 years of college and graduated with my Doctorate degree in Audiology (diagnosing and treating hearing and balance disorders) in May 2020! I have been a teacher in many ways over the last 13 years. I am a 5th degree black belt in taekwondo and have been teaching taekwondo to students ages 4-18 over the last 14 years. I have also been a math tutor for more than 11 years, teaching students math concepts ranging from basic mathematics learned in K5 through high school algebra II, both face-to-face and virtually. Other math prep courses I have taught include several ACT standardized testing math prep courses. In the last couple of years I have added teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) virtually to international students ages 4-15. I have a strong passion for teaching, and I love helping students succeed and become more confident and independent. I enjoy taekwondo, traveling, reading, fishing, and spending time with my family. I can't wait to meet you, and I hope to see your learner in my classroom soon!!
