Let’s begin our joyful journey into long division, long multiplication, and mastering the times tables! In this engaging math class, learners will thoroughly explore multiplication tables from 6 to 12—once and for all! We’ll uncover magical patterns, draw fascinating geometric designs, skip-count rhythms, and reveal surprising connections to number theory. Through fun and creative methods, students will find memorizing multiplication facts easier than ever. With strong multiplication skills, learners will gain confidence in more advanced math processes. We’ll dive into long division and long multiplication, learning clear, step-by-step strategies that are both methodical and enjoyable. Various methods will be taught to strengthen critical thinking, problem-solving, and true number sense. Our goal is to nurture real understanding—not just rote learning. Students are encouraged to share their ideas and strategies, helping build both math fluency and social confidence in a supportive, interactive space. At Waldorfunn, each class begins with a calming breath and a welcoming verse to create a peaceful, focused environment. Every session ends with an optional sharing moment, giving learners time to present their work, connect, and say goodbye. Our focus is on quality work, deep understanding, and math confidence that lasts. ### Class Syllabus **Week of March 17 Learning our number 7 times table with a fun and magical "tic-tac-seven" trick. The number 7 does have a magic pattern that helps us remember it. We will also explore the anatomy of long division, working together to build our long-division map card. **Week of March 24 Recreating the multiples of number 7 all the way to 12 through fun drawings. We will dive deeper into the long division process and review our long division map card. Without a reminder, we will master the long division process with a one-digit divisor and multi-digit dividend, creating a solid foundation. We'll even have fun with extra, extra-long division—let's make it hilarious! **Week of March 31 Creating drawings to memorize the multiples of the number 6. Number 6 can be challenging, but we will find ways to logically deduce it if we can't memorize it. We'll also learn how to perform long multiplication with multiple-digit numbers the traditional way. Let's practice! **Week of April 7 Reviewing and recreating our number 6 times table, incorporating all our fun tricks. Did you know there's another way to do long multiplication? It might be easier for you! Let's open our minds and learn new methods, practicing long multiplications with multiple digits—perhaps even extra-long. Let's make it incredible! **Week of April 14 Creating the number 8 multiplication table. The pattern of 8 is simple and fun to memorize. Next, we'll reinforce our long-division skills by dividing large numbers and practicing place value all the way up to billions! Yes, we can do that! What if we have a remainder? **Week of April 21 Off **Week of April 28 Creating the number 9 multiplication table. There are so many magic tricks to learn! Number 9 is especially easy! We are now skilled in long division, so can we make it shorter? Absolutely! We'll practice extra-long division the short way, and it will be incredibly rewarding. **Week of May 5 Remembering the multiples of 9 with ease. We will practice long multiplications with multi-digit numbers using our two different processes. Do you still have a preferred method? Can you identify something special happening with number 9? ** Week of May 12 Reviewing and recreating our number 6 times table, incorporating all our fun tricks. Did you know there's another way to do long multiplication? It might be easier for you! Let's open our minds and learn new methods, practicing long multiplications with multiple digits—perhaps even extra-long. Let's make it incredible! **Week of May 19 Learning our number 7 multiplication table through drawings. Seven is a magical number that can be represented in various ways. We'll explore the qualities of the number 7 and kep practicing with long multiplications and long divisions. Yes, we are experts at long division and multiplication by now! **Week of May 26 Let's learn about divisibility rules. This fun knowledge will enable us to determine by which number any given number can be divided equally. It's practical and impressive knowledge to have! **Week of June 2 Creating the number 9 multiplication table. There are so many magic tricks to learn! Number 9 is especially easy! We are now skilled in long division, so can we make it shorter? Absolutely! We'll practice extra-long division the short way, and it will be incredibly rewarding. **Week of June 9 Creating the number 8 multiplication table. The pattern of 8 is simple and fun to memorize. Next, we'll reinforce our long-division skills by dividing large numbers and practicing place value all the way up to billions! Yes, we can do that! What if we have a remainder? We master it all!
