SUMMARY OF THE CLASS In this ongoing course, students will be writing a number of different essays in several different styles including narrative, informational, persuasive, reading response, compare and contrast, how to, and more Essay writing is so important for students to master in middle school because essay writing is going to be a major part of their education from here on out. However, so many students struggle with essay writing, and as a parent not only do you not want to see your child struggle, but you also may not feel equipped to teach them yourself because you never learned the structure or English is not your first language. In this class, students will see examples of these types of essays, learn the structure, and be able to practice and get feedback on their essays. Each month in this class the material will build so we will be writing an essay over the course of the month. If students join in the middle of a month they will have missed some parts of the essay that we are on, but they can jump in and catch up easily. I also believe that students need to have a structure to write from to really master the art of essay writing. I also have lots of experience with students with a number of different abilities and neurodiverse students. I have experience with blind students, autistic students, students with ADHD, etc. If your student needs any accommodations to make this class more accessible for them please feel free to reach out and I will make these accommodations to the best of my ability.
