Make the abstract concepts of adjectives concrete by building it in Minecraft! The goal is to make learning memorable, engaging, and motivating. The game aspect of this learning solution also encourages important skills for successful learning outcomes, such as curiosity, creativity, perseverance, problem-solving, and, when used as part of a class-based lesson, collaboration. Each class will start with a themed short mini-lesson, then students will be given time to build in Minecraft creative mode the theme of the week. We are currently working our way though the order for multiple adjectives to appear if used in a sentence. The last 5 minutes of class will be for sharing our builds or short sentences filled with adjectives and getting feedback from the teacher. Let the adventures begin! Types of adjectives we will discuss; Sept. 22 - Week 1 - Adjectives...what are they and why are they important? Sept. 29 - Week 2 - Positive Adjectives - You have an amazing talent. Oct. 6 - Week 3 - Comparative Adjectives - Your car is faster than my car. Oct. 13 - Week 4 - Superlative Adjectives - The walking trail is the easiest way to get downtown. Oct. 20 - Week 5 - Descriptive Adjectives - My brother has brown hair, but I have red hair The cycle will start over... There will be a new concept each class day, which focuses on repetition, having fun and making friends all while making the abstract concepts of adjectives more concrete with Minecraft. Regarding Minecraft: Each student will need a Minecraft account. Class participants will do all Minecraft building on their own personal device. Any version of Minecraft (PC/Mac computer, Minecraft for Windows10, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, or other gaming consoles, Minecraft PE for iPad, Android tablets, etc.) will work for this course. The purchase of Minecraft must be made separately and prior to the start of class. Students with a few weeks of Minecraft experience through play or otherwise will have the skills needed to complete the builds in Minecraft. Minecraft is a building tool for this course (think of it as digital building blocks). The lessons and information in this course are not official Minecraft products and are not associated with Mojang. What is NOT included: This course will not include a group server or realm. Students can work together if their devices are compatible but partner/group projects are not required. Most learners will build in Minecraft on their own. NOTE - We will be building in the creative mode and you will need to have a way to play Minecraft as well as use the Zoom program. Each class will be different and independent so you can join one class or come as often as you like! I look forward to seeing your creativity at work.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Lisa and I am so excited to be teaching for Outschool! As a mother to 5 children, ages 11 to 23, have modeled and taught life skills such as sewing, cooking, arts/ crafts, animal husbandry, and balancing a budget to name a few. For the past 10 years, I have taught in my local homeschooling co-ops, Sunday school classes, and various other community activities. I believe when you actively engage children through hands-on learning, learning becomes effortless!
I am also a homeschooling mom. I have educated my children from kindergarten up to grade 8. I have taught kindergarten which I have specialized in teaching phonics and letter recognition. As well as, science, word building, social studies, bible, and English literature.
Currently, I have been teaching ESL online for the last 3 years, to children in China ages 4 to 13 years. This experience has really helped me to be a more precise teacher. It is a great joy to see smiling faces as they learn and discover.
