This ongoing class will focus on Addition and Subtraction within 20. Learners will learn concepts and practice fluency through games and work on worksheets with our Mentorhood qualified teacher. Prerequisite: Learners are expected to know and familiar with combination within 10. Learn about math vocabulary: more, less, altogether, total, how many Week 2 week of June 17 Exploring addition and subtraction with pattern in tens; tens and ones Week 3 week of June 24 Addition with doubles; groups of 2 and 5 Week 4 week of July 1 Subtraction with doubles; groups of 2 and 5 Week 5 week of July 8 Addition with regrouping Week 6 week of July 15 Subtraction with regrouping Week 7 week of July 22 Understanding numbers visually (1 - 20) using ten frames, objects and fingers. Mentorhood has over 15 years teaching the Singapore approach to students internationally. Our teachers are qualified and trained to teach the bar modelling method for problem solving. Teaching Method: Learners are provided with different visual ways of looking at math with the Singapore Bar Models approach. The learning journey begins with the concrete and pictorial stages, followed by the abstract stage to enable them to learn mathematics meaningfully. This approach encourages advanced (higher-order) thinking process, communication of mathematical ideas and problem solving.
