Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 2
Writing is such a joy! Students will explore narrative writing. We will rotate the different types of writing skills every four weeks so that students can have enough time to practice these. In each class, students will have some take-home and in-class activities to boost their writing skills including grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, and fluency. Students will occasionally engage with different fictional texts so as to expand their language and ideas. Next, students will begin brainstorming ideas based on each topic, along with a small discussion. During writing, I will work with each student during this process. Afterward, they will begin writing their sentences, and I will check their progress as they go along. Some examples of characters we will write about include dragons, princesses, Minecraft characters, Pokemon characters, unicorns, and monsters.
In addition, we also work on these aspects over the weeks:
-Basic sentences structure
-Sentence stretching.
-Character traits
-spelling
I mainly want to build students' confidence in sharing and writing their ideas so they can be lifelong writers!

Hello there! I am passionate about teaching arts and craft to students between the ages of 6 - 11.
I have worked with youth for 9 years and my experience includes teaching English as a Second Language online and working in after-school programs. I have taught on a number of online tutoring platforms, such as Vipkid and Qkids. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing students progress from saying short phrases to full sentences and finally, to having full-blown conversations.
Additionally, I have also taught at a YMCA after school program where I planned various activities including arts and crafts. Activities included paper crafts, step-by-step fantasy drawings, animal-life drawings, paper-crafts puppets and other engaging projects! I believe that should be engaged, excited and follow their curiosities. My approach is very hands-on and interactive!

I completed a Bachelor of fine arts in visual arts at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College where I explored different mediums such as drawing, sculpture and performance art. During this period, drawing and sculpture was a major focus. I delved into different drawing techniques specifically related to the human body. I also explored sculpture using materials such as wood, ceramics and metal. I would love to teach these skills to students from all over the world! I believe in providing a creative environment where they can flourish.
In addition, I completed a Bachelors' degree in English Literature with a minor in Anthropology. I also received some credits for French. This degree has afforded me a number of skills including critical thinking, essay writing and creative writing. These skills will help me to communicate with students at all levels.

In my spare time, l am a bookworm, who loves listening to audio-books or reading books. This has been a life long hobby that began 25 years ago. Moreover, I love cooking, learning new languages and about other cultures as well! I am also very adventurous, I have done skiing on some of the great Canadian slopes on the east side!
