Welcome to my newest class that specifically focus on teaching students how to sing Musical Theater songs with skill! As both a musical theater lover, performer, and voice teacher, I am so excited about offering this class to students who are: 1. Wanting to learn how to sing some of their favorite musical theater songs 2. Seeking to learn how to belt, mix, and or hit higher notes better for specific songs 3. Auditioning for school and community musicals 4. Preparing for competitions 5. Needing personal assistance with music from a production they are in Musical theater requires a significant amount of polished skills, as the vocalist will likely be moving and acting while also needing to clearly annunciate, and project appropriately. Additionally, musical theater singers need to be able to easily adapt their vocal technique to meet the genre and tone their character needs to have, which changes from show to show. There's a big difference in how one would sing Maria's songs from "The Sound of Music", versus Wednesday Adam's songs in "The Adam's Family" or even Ariel's songs in "The Little Mermaid". However it is possible to train the voice to be versatile within it's range. When you student enrolls in this course they will be working on two opposite songs. They can choose from the long list I have below, or they can pick their own song(s). I do however require sheet music, so if they choose to pick their own song they will need to upload the music they have for it. ( Music can also be purchased at www.musicnotes.com) *Below are songs I own sheet music too and have accompaniment tracks to, and or can send a link to a YouTube karaoke track that matches the sheet music / key practiced etc. Students can choose two of these or provide their own sheet music for a song they are learning. However if I am not notified, log in and do not receive communication from student or student's family after 10 minutes of waiting, I will log out and a make up lesson will not be guaranteed. **Devices To Use* Students need to be at a computer desktop, laptop, or stationary iPad to take this course. I cannot properly teach students who log in on a phone as we would not be able to utilize sheet music, powerpoint slides, or the best audio settings via a phone. ****Voice Lesson Environment* It is vital to have a space where students can hear, have good internet connection, and not feel insecure or embarrassed while singing out. A quiet space where they can sit or stand in a relaxed manner will improve their learning experience greatly. I will NOT teach students in a noisy public environment - no exceptions. If a student logs in moving around and holding their iPad while: in the car, on a train, on a boat, in a shopping center, at a salon, at a party etc...I will let them know they need to be in a proper environment for lessons and if that cannot happen within the first ten minutes then we end the lesson and I send virtual homework instead.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Florida Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
Bachelor's Degree in Music from Mount Vernon Nazarene University
I am a certified voice and music teacher with a bachelor's degree in music who has been singing (professionally) for nearly 25 years, and teaching music and voice for over 15 years.
It all started at the age of 13 when I began training in the Bel Canto method with Louise Savage, the founder of the Fine Arts Association school in Willoughby Ohio. I studied with her weekly for five full years, during which I recorded 3 CDs and began to sing publicly for several professional and regional events, choirs, and programs. This was the beginning of my musical career.
Since that time, I have continued diverse vocal training with multiple amazing vocal coaches, have had the opportunity to sing in several professional choirs, musical theater productions, and special events in multiple states across the US and have earned a bachelor’s degree in music, with a focus in voice.
In addition to holding a degree music, I have also received the Voice Teacher Certification from New York Vocal Coaching after training 50 hours with renowned founder Justin Stoney.
I am a Florida certified music teacher and have been teaching music and voice both publicly and privately for over 15 years in addition to performing at a professional level within the state. I have been asked to sing the National Anthem 3 times at the Tampa Bay Ray's stadium for a MLB game, have been in productions at both Manatee and Sarasota Players Theaters, performed with the Children's Theater of Michigan, was a member of Sarasota's professional Choral Artists for 10 concerts, and in 2021 sang in several Epcot's Candlelight Processional shows at Walt Disney World.
In addition to those solo endeavors, my husband and I, known as "The Martin Duo" have sung for restaurants, theaters, weddings, and exclusive community yacht and country club events. We are most well-known for our Musical Theater and Show-tune tribute shows alongside of being popular Christmas Carolers throughout the state. We also work as voice-over artists for Worldbook where we can be heard voicing several characters for children's graphic novel audiobooks.
Currently I also work as a voice instructor at one of Nord Angelia's international school campuses. As a voice instructor I can teach various styles of music and how to manipulate the body to produce differing sounds needed for each genre. However, I specialize in coaching full voice use for Musical Theater, Jazz, Classical Cross-over, and Classical styles.
*As a Florida FES-UA/EO and Step Up PEP eligible music elective teacher, my courses are reimbursable for those seeking to utilize their funds for a state approved music elective*
