Master Multiplication Facts : Math Made Easy FLEX CLASS
What's included
Homework
Students are encouraged to continue practicing and memorizing the math facts discussed during class each week.Class Experience
US Grade 3
During this six-week flex course, students will learn that multiplication is the process of repeated addition. (This course is also offered in a live format https://outschool.com/classes/master-multiplication-facts-multiply-0-to-12-yvaT0beZ#usRBPN3CUH ) Prior to learning multiplication facts, students should have a strong understanding of both basic addition facts and the addition process. Students will watch recorded weekly multiplication lessons (there are no live classes). That means students can work at their own pace, practice our weekly facts, chat with the teacher, and watch the engaging instructional video as many times as they need. Students will then work on mastering their multiplication facts and times table for multiplying the numbers 0 to 12. Students will use a hands on approach to master their math facts using manipulative, guided practice, modeling, and independent practice. At the end of each class the students will play a short interactive game to practice their new math set of math facts. and will be left with an exit question that they can leave a response to after finishing the instructional video. Students will be provided with multiple ways to practice and master their facts as they progress through the class each week. The mastery of math facts and multiplication fluency is foundational for students as they progress in math and build fluency in their mathematical problem solving skills. Multiplication, will also continue to be used in many daily, real world situations that students encounter. What to Expect 1. On Sunday, we will post a weekly video. - begin with a brief warm-up and review of the multiplication facts mastered so far. - the weekly set of multiplication facts will be introduced and discussed using the multiplication table. - a rhyme, chant, song, rule, or trick will be introduced and used as a fun tool for memorizing the week's multiplication facts. - we will end with an activity that reinforces the weekly multiplication facts.* * The activity introduced during this time, can be used throughout the next week as students master their multiplication facts. I encourage parents and guardians to ask their student to "teach" and participate in the activity with their student. This ensures that students begin to memorize facts and also affirms that the adult(s) in their lives value what they are practicing and learning. 2. Students are given a multiplication exit interview question to respond to and interact with their peers. They can also take pictures of the weekly games and activities to share how they are using their independent learning at home. 3. On Tuesday, weekly foldouts are uploaded for students to use as a practice tool. 4. On Thursday, a quick activity video is posted for students to use and practice their math facts. They can also take pictures of the weekly games and activities to share how they are facilitating independent learning at home. 5. Each week students will be given a multiplication scavenger hunt challenge to complete and share.
