Class Experience
This course will prepare learners for college-level writing expectations. Learners should have access to Google Docs (preferred) or Microsoft Word for this course. Learners will learn how to: -brainstorm topics relevant to them -research and find credible sources -cite textual evidence using MLA formatting using both in-text and parenthetical documentation -write an exciting introduction that grabs the reader’s attention -write a thesis statement -identify and write claims and...
Learners will learn the process of writing and write three essays at a high school level, following MLA formatting.
I am a veteran high school English teacher (20 years experience) with a master's in Education. One of the most exciting parts of teaching for me is helping learners better their writing skills and guiding learners through the writing and research processes.
Learners will be working on their essays outside of class, but I will be there to help with ideas, editing, feedback, and more.
Learners will be provided handouts for class in addition to the videos uploaded. Please have access to Google Docs (preferred) or Microsoft Word.
Learners will be assessed often using both verbal feedback and written feedback (generally in the form of rubrics). If you need a formal grade for this course, please let me know, and I will provide a detailed report card for you!
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
