Welcome to essay writing! Get your thinking caps on and be ready to write, rethink and revise your written work. Using given writing prompts, students will learn how to structure a variety of essays from beginning to end. Each week we will do a different essay. Here is what the schedule will look like: Prewriting: Students can begin brainstorming using the given topic. For informational writing, students will need to research the subject beforehand. I would provide specific sites for students to use if nrequired. Day one: Once they have finished working on their brainstorming web, students will begin writing their first draft using graphic organizers. We will discuss the flow of writing and types of connectors/transition words. Students will share their rough drafts and get feedback from the teacher and their peers. For homework, they will be given a checklist to use to mark up their rough draft Day two: Students will finish marking their rough draft with a pen that stands out like red or blue and then rewrite their final draft. Students will learn how to write effective introductions and endings as well. Students will share and review it so review their writing to see how they could improve the next time. Hello there! I am passionate about teaching arts and craft to students between the ages of 6 - 11.
I have worked with youth for 9 years and my experience includes teaching English as a Second Language online and working in after-school programs. I have taught on a number of online tutoring platforms, such as Vipkid and Qkids. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing students progress from saying short phrases to full sentences and finally, to having full-blown conversations.
Additionally, I have also taught at a YMCA after school program where I planned various activities including arts and crafts. Activities included paper crafts, step-by-step fantasy drawings, animal-life drawings, paper-crafts puppets and other engaging projects! I believe that should be engaged, excited and follow their curiosities. My approach is very hands-on and interactive!
I completed a Bachelor of fine arts in visual arts at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College where I explored different mediums such as drawing, sculpture and performance art. During this period, drawing and sculpture was a major focus. I delved into different drawing techniques specifically related to the human body. I also explored sculpture using materials such as wood, ceramics and metal. I would love to teach these skills to students from all over the world! I believe in providing a creative environment where they can flourish.
In addition, I completed a Bachelors' degree in English Literature with a minor in Anthropology. I also received some credits for French. This degree has afforded me a number of skills including critical thinking, essay writing and creative writing. These skills will help me to communicate with students at all levels.
In my spare time, l am a bookworm, who loves listening to audio-books or reading books. This has been a life long hobby that began 25 years ago. Moreover, I love cooking, learning new languages and about other cultures as well! I am also very adventurous, I have done skiing on some of the great Canadian slopes on the east side!
