Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 7
⭐️Welcome! Enroll now for the 2024 school year.⭐️

Thank you for checking out my course. During this weekly math course, students will meet twice a week to build their math skills and understanding of the concepts outlined in the 6th grade common core state math standards. Our mastery based approach is intended to build your students mastery of math skills, confidence in their math abilities, and love for mathematics. Whether your child is homeschooled and looking for weekly math lessons or attends public school and is reviewing what they are learning in a classroom, this is a fun and engaging course designed with everyone in mind.

💻Our Classroom & Learner Support💻

During this hands on, engaging math class, your student will interact as they are introduced to each weekly concept. To scaffold your students learning, we will begin each concept with teacher modeling and instruction. Next, we will complete examples and practice together. Finally, each new concept will have independent practice where students can practice the new material and the teacher can check for understanding. This is commonly referred to as "I do, we do, you do" model of teaching. Using the chat box and at times an online platform, I will assess their understanding of the lesson After each class, the students will be given a worksheet to encourage mastery their new learning and review previous lessons. These lessons will be reviewed and checked at the start of the following class meeting.

Throughout the year, we will also work to incorporate online games, activities and platforms that will support your students learning while providing suggestions for resources and practice that coordinates with our weekly lessons. Additionally, we will be using a document camera in class so students can better understand how to show and organize their work while learning what good notetaking skills look like. Both are vital skills to master as your student moves into higher levels of math.

🍎Teacher qualifications🍎
I am a licensed teacher and mom to four. I began tutoring students in math and language arts twenty-five years ago. I graduated with my bachelor's degree in education and currently hold a teaching license with endorsements in reading, math, social studies, and middle school. Immediately after college, I began teaching in a public elementary school and have taught hundreds of students.

Math and reading are my favorite subjects. My love for getting lost in a good book is just as strong as my love for working with numbers and solving math problems. I believe one of the best ways to inspire students to learn is to love what you are teaching them! A teacher's enthusiasm is contagious, and gets students excited as well!

I hope you will join me in learning through an active, engaging hands-on math course that will encourage your child to love learning! I look forward to meeting you and hope you will contact me with any questions you may have.
